In 2007, a Canadian Fire Captain and his ex-banker wife noticed that an 800 number they had used years earlier for a now-defunct business spelled a useful and brandable phrase. Looking ahead, they thought to register the matching dot com name to further support the value of that legacy number.
While searching around the web they noticed that massive numbers of search engine returns were submerging many websites in obscurity, while others seemed to continually pop up. Search visibility seemed to be primarily driven by the domain name. Recognizing the critical role the internet would play for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) in future, they invested hundreds of hours researching the claims of industry professionals regarding search engine rankings.
The simple, even obvious conclusion, reached in 2008, was that DOMAIN NAMES MATTER. Following this philosophy, they began to invest in dot com domains that few at that time recognized as having value.
Interestingly, in late 2011 Microsoft published a million-dollar-study titled Domain Bias in Web Search that reached the same conclusion: DOMAIN NAMES MATTER.
We invite you to search our URL inventory pages to determine if your exact search term domain is ready to become the ideal internet location for your enterprise. Have a good look around.
